Blair Dwyer was introduced to Power To Be when his son participated in our programs and since then has volunteered on many outdoor programs including kayaking and rock climbing. He has served as the volunteer chair of our Policy and Governance Committee and Board Director for the past six years.

“When I think of Blair I think of a tireless guy who diligently toils behind the scenes for the good of the organization, someone who can always be relied upon for calm, insightful advice and guidance,” says Mike Shannon, Power To Be Board Chair. “He is a tremendously gentle and earnest person who has a wonderful sense of humour that typically resides just below the surface but is a treat for all around when presented with a contagious grin and delightful comment. There is no greater example of dedication to a cause as that which has been demonstrated by Blair to Power To Be.”

Jennifer Garrett, Director of Finance and Operations, adds, “Blair’s perspective has been pivotal to furthering our governance framework while keeping the most important stakeholder in mind – our participants and their families. He ushered us through the BC Societies Act update process seamlessly and ahead of schedule. Blair has effectively chaired our policy and governance committee in a way that embodies our values, had tangible and impactful outputs, engaged multiple perspectives, and ultimately raised the benchmark for best practice at Power To Be.”

As Blair steps away from his board and committee work this May, we want to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everything he has contributed to Power To Be.
