National Philanthropy Day celebrates community generosity

National Philanthropy Day was Nov. 15 and we want to take this opportunity to thank our amazing community of organizations, foundations and individuals who provide support through donations and volunteer hours. Throughout the years, that collective support has helped Power To Be grow in Victoria and Vancouver.

Support comes in many forms. In 2014, volunteers donated more than 5,800 hours of their time to ensure 429 programs were successful. They also contributed to the success of our major fundraising events, Power To Play Victoria, Power To Play Vancouver and Power To Golf where the community helped us raise $683,000.

We are honoured to have been the charity recipient for Vancouver events such as Golf Fore Kids, organized by T-Lane Transportation, and the Vancouver Tweed Ride. In Victoria, individuals and businesses took the initiative to raise money on behalf of Power To Be by running in the Time Colonist 10K and hosting holiday parties with silent auction proceeds directed to Power To Be. Proving philanthropy knows no age limit, we even received donations for a child’s birthday Twoonie party.

Our community’s confidence in Power To Be’s ability to make a difference in the lives of the youth and families we serve is greatly appreciated.

A special thank you to our major donors
