On the weekend of May 26-28, 2023, Power To Be held our 6th Power To Summit virtual fundraising event, which saw 80 teams of four racers work together to climb, fundraise, and spend time together in support of Power To Be.

After virtually summiting the mountains of Kilimanjaro, Denali, and Everest in past events over the last few years, we decided to choose Canada’s highest peak, Mount Logan, for Power To Summit 2023. Teams showed immense enthusiasm and commitment for the challenge.

Right from the very beginning, as we initiated the event registration process, we were truly amazed by the level of engagement displayed by all those involved. In the build-up to the race weekend, teams showcased their ingenuity by launching a wide array of fundraising strategies to support Power To Be. From puppy yoga sessions to pie throwing contests, their efforts were commendable. As the race commenced at noon on Friday, social media platforms were flooded with an abundance of posts, capturing the teams’ excitement. Sporting their racer kits and sharing team photos, racers also took the opportunity to enlighten their networks about the remarkable impact of Power To Be. This high level of involvement persisted over the next three days as the racers conquered incredible elevations en route to the summit while steadfastly working toward their fundraising goals.

Witnessing the racers in vibrant costumes and capturing stunning summit photos against breathtaking backdrops was an absolute delight! We particularly noted the strategy of one team, GCE Power To Pause, who had one team member racing near Mount Logan, providing us with awe-inspiring icy snapshots. Be sure to explore the photos below! Furthermore, we were overjoyed to see numerous teams accompanied by their dogs, some of them even wearing costumes! Along the trails, we had dedicated staff members, fundraisers, and supporters stationed at key locations. Perhaps you got a chance to talk to Dana, Carinna, Rachael, Ashley, Asha, Sarah, Charlotte, or Alix as they ventured along the paths. We were thrilled to see so many teams running into each other and hiking together, encouraging each other, taking group photos, and embracing what Power To Be is all about: creating access to nature and enjoying its immense benefits as a community.

Thank you to everyone who made this event possible, including our sponsors, event partners, donors, and racers! As of the time of publication, this fundraiser has so far raised $326,082 to support Power To Be’s inclusive programming, and we are so grateful! We can’t wait for you to join us on our next adventure! Should you wish to make a donation, we are accepting fundraising for Power To Summit through to June 9th, 2023.
