Jason Cole honoured for community leadership
As Director of Programs for the Victoria-based non-profit, Cole has been instrumental in the growth of the organization, says Power To Be Executive Director Tim Cormode. Under his leadership, Power To Be offered a variety of adventure-based activities to more than 1,000 youth and families living with a disability or barrier in Victoria and Vancouver in 2014.
“Jason consistently looks for ways to support people to be active in nature,” Cormode says. “As he has taken on management roles, his legacy can be seen in the thoughtful practitioners he has mentored and the partnerships he has fostered.”
For Cole, the award was an individual honour that pays tribute to the important work of many. “This award brings valuable recognition to an important service for people with diverse support needs in our community, one often under recognized in the social services sector,” he says. “The value of nature-based adventure experiences cannot be underestimated in terms of improved quality of life for those who often have limited access to such activities. We see firsthand the transformative power of these experiences in terms of people’s confidence in their abilities in their day-to-day lives.”
The third annual Top 20 Under 40 Business and Community Achievement Awards honoured individuals from Vancouver Island who are contributing positively in their communities.
Congratulations Jason!
