Innovative approach to selling items benefits local non-profits
Did you know you can donate directly to Power To Be and other local charities by selling goods on Used.ca? The Victoria-based organization’s charitable arm is known as #UsedHelps and the site empowers sellers to donate the proceeds from their gently used items to a charity of their choice.
“We are so excited to be partnered with Used.ca. The idea of selling items you no longer need to people who can use them is such an innovative way to support non-profits,” says Dana Hutchings, Power To Be Director of Advancement and Communications. “It makes donating accessible and that is something we value.”
The process is simple – the seller places an ad on their local Used.ca site and selects “donate proceeds to charity – yes.” Power To Be can be selected in the drop down list. Once the ad details are entered, the seller can make it live. For items over $20, the seller will receive a tax receipt via BeGiving.ca when the item sells.
