After the amazing achievement of hosting our very first Power To Summit event in Victoria in June, Power To Be was so excited for the opportunity to hold the same event for our Vancouver ambassadors, and wow these racers came to play!

From September 18th to September 27th, teams of 4 were challenged to cumulatively complete the elevation of Mount Kilimanjaro, an impressive 5895 metres. Working together towards a common goal, 33 teams were determined to push their limits in support of Power To Be as they fundraised, dressed up, danced, and climbed their ways to the summit.

Inspired by the 10-year anniversary of Power To Be team’s adventure to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro in 2010, Power To Summit has been an excellent alternative to our well-known Power To Play events. Power To Summit Vancouver allowed racers to participate while keeping a safe distance, yet still get outdoors and support Power To Be in a fun, team-building environment. Even with a last-minute curveball of poor air quality in British Columbia, the event went ahead with great success as we extended the race time by a week to allow racers more time to summit safely.

“It has been amazing to see this new event come to life and connect so many people to not only Power To Be, but to nature and their community. The enthusiasm showcased throughout Power To Summit has been such an inspiration, and we could not be happier with the collaboration from everyone involved!” – Corra-Rose McClung-Sitnam, Corporate Relations Lead at Power To Be.

With racers participating from around the world, teams showcased their engagement and spirit from Canada to the UK. This group of dedicated difference-makers exceeded our expectations by fundraising over $190,000. The money raised from this event helps to ensure that our participants can continue to access nature, and for that we are so incredibly grateful! Thank you to everyone who was a part of this incredible adventure!
