Business community rose to the challenge to support Power To Be

On Sunday, May 25, 2014, more than 30 local corporate teams trudged through mud, water and epic challenges at Elk / Beaver Lake for Power To Play 2014 – presented by TD; a charitable adventure race in support of Power To Be Adventure Therapy Society (Power To Be). The event raised $132,000, which will help Power To Be provide accessible and inclusive nature-based programs for more than 800 local youth and families in need of support.

This year’s Power To Play brought out a mix of veteran corporate teams as well as first timers, all showing tremendous engagement through months of fundraising efforts and philanthropic community building.

“The success of this event grows each year. We’re seeing many teams return from having a great time several years in a row, and do a great job of inspiring philanthropy within their corporate communities,” said Tim Cormode, Executive Director of Power To Be. “Of course, we are very fortunate and grateful for the support from the corporate community, our sponsors and all the volunteers who make this an successful event each year. On behalf of our staff and the participants we serve, I want to extend a huge thanks.”

A very special mention goes to RBC Dominion Securities “Bulls and Bears” that received the Act-of-Kindness award for the highest fundraising team at $ $11,150, and the first place race time at 2:09:30. A first in Power To Play history. The event also saw TD take the volunteer recruitment prize, with Investors Group as a close runner up, and last but not least, Team ‘Lady Beard’ who claimed the ‘best dressed’ for keeping in spirit with the event’s fun and good nature.
