Family-run business fulfills wish lists for Power To Be families

In the days leading up to Christmas, Power To Be staff members were busy shopping and wrapping gifts. Acting as the elves of the season, they did their work thanks to the team at Island Floors Centre – a family-run business that has been donating holiday hampers for Power To Be families for more than four years.

“It’s always amazing when people go out of their way to shine light into someone else’s world,” says Sylvia Storry, Power To Be Community Development Coordinator who helps organize the hampers. “We have so much gratitude and I hope they feel the impact that their support really has on the community and how appreciated it is.”

Every year, Power To Be randomly selects families to receive the holiday hampers sponsored by Island Floors Centre. The families write wish lists, often combinations of gifts and household essentials that would make the holidays just a little bit brighter, and then the teams from Island Floors and Power To Be work together to compile the hampers in time for a Christmas delivery.

“It’s so nice to hear the stories and appreciation and gratitude, of the little things that someone else took the time to take care of them. I really think that helps to foster a sense of community that we build within Power To Be. We are a community and we take care of each other.”

From all of us at Power To Be, thank you to the team at Island Floors Centre for their generosity and commitment to our community.
