At Power To Be we are honoured and humbled by the number of family funds and foundations that support us including, most recently, the Chris Allan Legacy Fund. By choosing Power To Be as a partner in their desire to make the world a better place, Chris Allan’s family will positively impact the lives of our participants.

The Chris Allan Legacy Fund was created as a tribute to Christopher David Allan, a proud Canadian, who believed strongly in outdoor education, sustainable recreational fishing practices and lending assistance to those in need. Known to his colleagues by the call sign “Axe,” Chris was a captain in the Royal Canadian Air Force, piloting CF-18 Hornet fighter jets on missions overseas to serve his country. Tragically, Chris lost his life at the young age of 31 while fishing on the Pacific Ocean near Campbell River, B.C.

Similar to Power To Be, Chris believed in “getting outside” and sharing his knowledge and skills unequivocally with those who were interested to learn. He was an accomplished downhill ski instructor, an expert saltwater fishing guide and had a love for the outdoors and camping. Family was paramount to Chris in every sense of the word.

In honouring their son, brother, husband and uncle, the Allan family has created the Chris Allan Legacy Fund to focus on funding registered charitable initiatives that support his core values. The fund’s support of Power To Be programs will enable people living with barriers and their families to access the nature and activities that Chris held so dear. We are honoured to be a part of his legacy.
