The 12th annual Power To Golf raised $555,000 in support of Power To Be’s inclusive adventures rooted in nature. In celebration of Power To Be’s 20th year of serving our community the event featured a memorable Outdoor Gala Aug. 1 hosted at the home of Terry and Carol Johnston followed by the traditional golf tournament Aug. 2 at Victoria Golf Club.
“We have ensured inclusive adventures in nature are available in our community for 20 years. This incredible milestone is worth celebrating and we are so grateful for the support we received this week,” says Dana Hutchings, Power To Be Director of Advancement and Communication. “These fundraising events are directly in support of our programs. The $555,000 raised will ensure we can offer more than 450 adventures this year to more than 1,600 participants in Victoria and Vancouver.”
The Outdoor Gala featured a private concert by The Jim Cuddy Band, featuring the front man to Blue Rodeo, and served up tantalizing food prepared by four award-winning Canadian chefs. Hailing from Calgary, Tofino and Victoria, Chef Nicole Gomes, Chef Ryan O’Flynn, Chef Nicholas Nutting and Chef Nicholas Waters were at the event to share their fare. The evening was emceed by Tara Slone, co-host of Rogers Hometown Hockey on Sportsnet.
The evening offered guests incredible donated door prize adventure packages and impressive silent auction items made possible by the generous donations from across Canada and as far away as the Switzerland and French Polynesia.
