Participants harvest fresh veggies for a seaside picnic

The group helped ready the garden for spring by pulling weeds and invasive species from the rich soil. The reward was an opportunity to harvest kale straight from the garden for a pizza picnic lunch near the sea.

The pizza was cooked in a cob oven that Power To Be participants helped build several years ago.

“To come back to a place we have had connection to for programs and see the seasonal changes links us to the bigger picture of what nature provides. It illustrates how we are apart of it,” says Carinna Kenigsberg, program manager. “There is no better way to experientially feel our presence then pulling out food from the dirt and eating it cooked from an earth bound oven.”

Big thanks to the Coast Collective, Judy Nault and Cindy Moyer for welcoming us to into the garden.
