Power To Be’s strength is due in large part to our strategic partnerships with funders. “Our relationship with CIBC is one of those holistic partnerships that directly improves the participant experience by supporting us in many ways, and we are very proud and grateful to call CIBC and CIBC Children’s Foundation our partner,” says Tim Cormode, CEO of Power To Be.
For over 10 years, CIBC Children’s Foundation has directly supported our programs with proceeds raised during CIBC Miracle Day. Since 1984, this epic fundraiser has raised over $100 million for children’s charities across Canada. Chris Stuart, Executive Director – Equity Markets – Western Canada, supports Power To Be’s programs and events: “because our focus at the Foundation is to support young people, and by removing barriers to nature, children and youth of all abilities can experience hiking, kayaking, canoeing, camping, and other nature-based activities in a safe and supported way.”
In 2018, CIBC’s Stand for Canada 150 grant program supported critical infrastructure at Prospect Lake, helping us transform our site into the hub of our operations. With CIBC’s support, we were able to build sheds and racks for watersports, enhance the waterfront, and purchase watercrafts and a new accessible vehicle to transport program participants. CIBC has continued to support the building of our new permanent home at Prospect Lake with a recent grant to build an accessible kitchen that will incorporate design features to support the unique needs of our diverse population.
And when CIBC had the opportunity to further enhance our Prospect Lake site and contribute to creating a contemplative place to sit and take in the stunning views, they stepped up to the plate and donated gorgeous Adirondack chairs.
