Does an evening of ocean adventures, fine dining, and an exciting silent auction sound like a dream? These experiences were all wrapped in one at the “It’s A-Boat Time!” fundraising event hosted by students at Camosun College!

On March 25, 2022, our friends at Camosun College in Victoria, B.C. supported Power To Be by raising $3,000 at their incredible event! It’s A-Boat Time! was organized by 6 Hospitality Management students from Camosun College with the help of their professors and event planner, Scott, from 17 Black Events. The Hospitality Management program allows them to learn the principles of the hospitality sector, with students learning about mixology, operating fine dining restaurants, accounting, marketing, and general business. With these skills and knowledge, they were able to use their critical thinking and technical skills, as well as their creativity to design and execute a very successful event!

The evening started with a three-hour wildlife boat tour where 48 guests discovered the marvels that the Harbour holds. The boat tour was followed by an upscale three-course dinner at the Dunlop House and a silent auction that featured a wide array of items donated by local businesses. All proceeds gathered from ticket and silent auction sales went to Power To Be!

The event was not only beneficial to our organization but also the students at Camosun College as they overcame challenges and applied their learning. Professionalism and wide array of skill and knowledge was what ultimately made the event such a success.

We are so incredibly grateful for the time and energy that the students poured into this fundraiser. Thank you to all of the parties that helped make this event so successful, including Eagle Wing Whale & Wildlife Tours, Dunlop House, Camosun College and of course the amazing donors that came out to participate in this evening of appreciating nature and experiencing luxury for a good cause.

The generosity and kindness experienced during the event is one of the pillars Power To Be is built on. It is thanks to fundraising events like this that we are able to pursue our mission of making nature more accessible and inclusive for everyone.
