Power To Be recently teamed up with BC Parks to deliver a TrailRider workshop which allowed their staff the opportunity to learn more about accessibility and inclusion in the outdoors.
Power To Be’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce the recent election of Brad Williams as their new Chair. Taking over from Mike Shannon at the end of his term, Brad is not new to the organization having served as Treasurer for many years.
"For a very long time, I have wanted to go camping alone in a tent in the forest. However, for me, camping poses many big challenges; so it has always simply been a dream. However, when I was offered the opportunity to camp at Prospect Lake, I knew that I was ready, and I knew the time was now."
Em grew up exploring the outdoors and through finding motivation and peace in the wilderness she quickly discovered the value of her experiences in nature. Em first heard of Power To Be through her work’s involvement with Power To Play over 3 years ago, and quickly jumped in with both feet!
On Friday, July 12th, Power To Be hosted our very first Nature Gala, an annual fundraising event to help support Power To Be’s inclusive adventure programming. Formally known as Power To Golf, this year’s event featured fine dining, a silent auction, and a musical performance from award-winning singer Sarah McLachlan, and was truly a milestone in Power To Be’s fundraising efforts.

Last week, Robinson’s Outdoor Store celebrated its 90th anniversary; an exciting moment for the family-run business that has been providing outdoor enthusiasts across Vancouver Island with a variety of specialized gear since 1929. The store is iconic in the Victoria area and holds a special place in the hearts of everyone involved in Power To Be.

Power To Be’s Wilderness School offers more than just outdoor skills.
