Volunteering with Power To Be enables us to make nature-based adventures accessible to all individuals in our community. From supporting the administration of our team to helping a participant kayak the coast or explore a trail, your time is the biggest difference in the number of people we can help and lives we can enhance.

Ongoing Volunteer Roles

Administrative Volunteer

Support with administrative aspects within the Power To Be office. Activities could include front desk support, researching, data entry and various tasks.

Event Volunteer

Support major fundraising and community events.

Program Volunteer

Assist in the process of creating a safe and supportive environment for Adaptive Recreation participants. Activities could include kayaking, hiking, canoeing and indoor rock climbing.

Prospect Lake Site Volunteer

Support general grounds/maintenance and site development during specific volunteer work days.

Student Practicums and Placements

Specific placements support students in gaining experience in their fields of study.

  • Vancouver: We do not have any opportunities at this time. Please check back.
  • Victoria: Our Adaptive Recreation summer/fall practicum positions are currently filled. Applications for summer 2018 practicums will be open October 2017 to the beginning of January 2018. Once the application window closes, shortlisted candidates will be contacted to schedule interviews. After the interview process, successful applicants will be notified toward the end of February.

  • Why you are interested in a placement with Power To Be.
  • Which school and program you are applying from.
  • Start/end dates and hours required of the placement.
  • School requirements (special projects or specific supervision needs)

Please note all volunteer opportunities are open to individuals 19 years and older.

How to Join

  1. Attend an information session to learn more (see dates below).
  2. When notified by Power To Be, submit an online volunteer application.
  3. Attend an in-person interview with a Power To Be staff member.
  4. Submit the required paperwork, including criminal record check.
